Carica papaya is a member of Caricaceae . The fruits are consumed in fresh,form or Jams, Juices etc. It is accepected as edible Horticultural fruit.

There are lot of studies available for their anti inflammatory, Antioxidant, wound healing , Immunomodulatory properties. It is considered as safe

based on the studies as per OECD guidelines for acute, sub acute and chronic studies.

It contains many active components that can increase the total anti oxidant activity in blood and reduce lipid peroxisation such as cystantin,

Tocopherols, Ascorbic acid, Flavonoids, Cyanogenic – glycosides and Polyphenols.

CARICA PAPAYA – Pharmocology

  • Certain genes called Arachidonate 12 lipoxygenase (ALOX – 12) and Platelet – Activating Factor Receptor (PTAFR). The increase in the activity of the above is required for Platelet activation and production.
  • ALOX gene is strongly expressed in megakaryocytes and is responsible for the production of Platelets.
  • PTAFR gene is found to be expressed in megakaryocytes and act as precursor for Platelet production.

Mode of Action:

Active ingredients of Carica papaya up regulate the ALOX 12 and PTAFR gene there by leading to the increase production of megakaryocytes and its conversion into Platelets. Clinical evidence shows that C. papaya Leaf Extract increases ALOX 12 activity by 15 fold and PTA FR activity by 13.42 fold which is responsible for increase in Platelet production.

Since the mode of activity is through gene expression – The activity depend on the substrate concentration to trigger the genes. Once the genes triggered the feedback mechanism will regulate the process. The excess quantity if consumed ,will act as supplement without causing adverse effects.

Tablets – 1100 mg – TID for 5 Days 800 mg – TID or

4 Times a Day Syrup – 275 mg / 5 ml – 10 ml TID
